History of Our School
Colchester Garrison is a major garrison located in Colchester in Essex and has been an important military base
since the Roman era. Our school is located in the heart of the Garrison and almost 50% of our pupils are from
service families.
The school was opened in 1965 to provide education to the local army community. The first headteacher of the
school sought permission from Sir Bernard Montgomery to adopt his coat of arms as the school badge. We still
use this logo today and are very proud of our heritage.
